Self Straits
You’re a failure,
Between your dance with the devil and a gravestone of pleas,
And your facades do not end,
Their facetious strength dissipates,
And these routes you will not mend,
You assert your lust and justify goodwill,
How long will you run, fly, pop another pill?
The line drapes between what’s not and what’s true,
You condemned the hearts of those who most loved you,
You let your friend die, you asked not yourself why...
Or is that yet another ruse?
Or is that yet another ruse?
You seek another to laugh and to abuse,
To act is in your nature if you are the event not the cause,
To seek adulation and a round of applause,
Between your dance with the devil and a gravestone of pleas,
You laze and you doze in your body of fleas,
And you are flesh, pus and bones, and selfish deeds,
Your wake, surely, what this world infinitely needs,
But what worth is your life in straits such as these?
With such a lack of spine as you collapse to your knees?
